Instructional Leaders Learn Together at Pollock Elementary
Grant Parish principals and assistant principals recently gathered at Pollock Elementary for their monthly leadership meeting, combining professional learning with an opportunity to observe teaching and learning in action.
The meeting was led by the district’s NIET consultant and focused on strengthening instructional leadership across Grant Parish Public Schools.
Seeing Learning in Action
As part of the day, school leaders visited a classroom at Pollock Elementary to observe students actively engaged in their learning. Students discussed their work with classmates, explained their thinking, and shared strategies with one another.
Some students also used their own work to model how to write equations, expressions, and number sentences for their classmates, giving school leaders an opportunity to see student-centered instruction firsthand.
Connecting Classroom Practice to Leadership
After the classroom observation, leaders returned to the meeting to reflect on what they had seen, share ideas, and discuss how those practices connect to instructional leadership in their own schools.
These conversations allowed principals and assistant principals to connect their leadership work directly to the teaching and learning taking place in classrooms across the district.
