Response Timelines

  • Immediate
    Records immediately available will be produced as soon as reasonably possible. (R.S. 44:32(A))
  • 3 Days
    If records are in active use or storage, written certification will be provided within 3 days with an anticipated production date. (R.S. 44:33(B))
  • 5 Days
    If the district disputes whether records are public, a written determination will be issued within 5 days. (R.S. 44:32(D))
  • Enforcement
    Enforcement provisions under R.S. 44:35 are tied to the 5-day window.
