Under the Louisiana Public Records Law, La. R.S. 44:1 et seq., the public has the right to inspect, copy, or receive copies of public records maintained by the Grant Parish School Board, subject to exemptions provided by law. In accordance with La. R.S. 44:33.1, the custodian of records contact information is provided below.

How to Submit a Public Records Request
Requests should be specific and submitted in writing so the district can identify the records being requested and respond appropriately.

To avoid delays, include your full name, contact information, a clear description of the records requested, the date range if known, and whether you want to inspect records or receive copies. Louisiana law requires public records requesters to be at least 18 years old.
Response Timelines
Louisiana Public Records Law has different response rules depending on whether records are immediately available, in active use or storage, or potentially exempt from disclosure.
Immediately Available Records
Records that are immediately available will be produced as soon as reasonably possible.
La. R.S. 44:32(A)Records in Active Use or Storage
If requested records are in active use or storage, the custodian will provide written certification within 3 days of the request and state the expected date of production.
La. R.S. 44:33(B)Disputed Records
If the district determines a requested record may not be subject to disclosure, the custodian will provide a written determination within 5 days of the written request explaining the basis for that determination.
La. R.S. 44:32(D)Schedule of Fees
Required by La. R.S. 44:32(C). The fee schedule must be posted where the public can readily access it.

If fees apply, payment may be required in advance before copies are supplied, when allowed by law and Board policy.
Privacy & Exemptions
Some records maintained by a school district are confidential or exempt from disclosure under state or federal law.
Records Exempt from Disclosure
Certain school records, such as student health records, student report cards, evaluations, and personnel folders, may be confidential or exempt from public records disclosure under applicable law, including La. R.S. 44:4.
Employee Information Privacy
The Grant Parish School System does not release employee home addresses or home telephone numbers unless the employee has indicated in writing that such information may be released, consistent with La. R.S. 44:11.
Information submitted to the Grant Parish School System, including public records requests, may itself become a public record subject to disclosure under Louisiana Public Records Law.
