Employee Support Department

Benefits Department

The Benefits Department assists Grant Parish Public Schools employees with health insurance, supplemental benefits, retirement-related resources, enrollment deadlines, qualifying life events, and workers’ compensation reporting.

Workers’ Compensation

Employees should report work-related injuries or illnesses to their supervisor immediately. The official workers’ compensation report is completed by the employer, typically a supervisor or the Benefits Coordinator.

Severe injury notice: Claims involving death, amputation, blindness or loss of eye, brain injury, paraplegia, burns of more than 20 percent of the body, quadriplegia, or severe paralysis must be reported by telephone to LUBA at 1-888-884-5822.

If the injury involves a fatality, amputation, or loss of an eye, LUBA also notes that OSHA must be contacted immediately at 1-800-321-OSHA (6742).

What Employees Should Do

Report the injury right away

  1. Notify your supervisor immediately after a work-related injury or illness.
  2. Seek appropriate medical attention if needed.
  3. Provide the date, time, location, and description of what happened.
  4. Contact the Benefits Coordinator if you have questions about the workers’ compensation process.

Employees should not guess which LUBA form to complete. The district will help determine the correct reporting method and whether the employer report is required.
