Grant Parish is my home. I grew up here, went to Colfax Elem, Dry Prong Jr High and graduated from Grant High. My children went through Grant Parish schools and my husband is an Assistant Principal at South Grant Elem. I love this community and care about the people that live here.

Since 2014, I have been serving as secretary/ bookkeeper at Montgomery High School. As a 43 year resident of Grant Parish, my husband and I have raised our children here, with grandchildren currently enrolled in our parish schools. Our community provides exceptional student support, and our faculty and staff consistently exceed expectations to address the diverse needs of MHS students. It has been and remains a pleasure to serve at Montgomery High School. Go Tigers!

GPSB has a family-like atmosphere, where you can feel the love and support not only among our school level employees, but also from Dr. Stokes and the district leaders. I have been a part of the Grant Parish school system for 11 years and I cannot imagine working anywhere else. Throughout the years, I have been provided with many opportunities to continue learning and growing my practice as an educator, which has ultimately allowed me to move into a coaching role where I get to support teachers in their mission to produce successful students. From growing up and attending school in this community to having a flourishing career here, my full circle experience with GPSB has been nothing short of a blessing!

As a 5 year old, I dreamed of being a teacher. I came up through the Grant Parish School System with teachers that fueled my heart for others and fostered grit to never give up in any situation. Grant Parish is built on building relationships. Those teachers built a relationship with me and that in turn built a foundation for me to grow up and build my own relationships with my students. What’s most encouraging is those teachers that fostered that passion in me are mostly still within this school system. What a legacy! Within Grant parish, the administration all the way up to our Superintendent, Dr. Stokes, show their undivided support and passion to growing children in a myriad of ways! I am now in my 9th year of teaching, and I know that days get hard, months get hard, but Grant Parish makes me feel supported and empowered to be a better teacher.

Grant Parish is home. It is where I grew to love learning and where I always envisioned being able to give back to my community. I am blessed to have been able to fulfill that dream and return to teach in Grant Parish. There is something special about the children of Grant Parish, they touch your soul in a way that you wouldn't understand if you weren't once one of them. It fills my heart to be able to touch the lives of my neighbors and friends in my hometown. Even on the hard days, the difference that can be made is worth all of the stress and heartache that can come with this profession.
