At Grant Parish Schools, we’re committed to helping students stay informed, safe, and prepared for life both inside and outside the classroom. As part of statewide guidance, schools share important information each year to help students make healthy and responsible choices. These topics include safety, mental health, wellness, and digital citizenship, all designed to support your well-being and success.

Adoption Awareness

Adoption is one of the many ways families are formed, and learning about it helps students understand the importance of love, care, and belonging. This topic encourages compassion and respect for all types of families while helping students see how adoption gives children safe and supportive homes.

Bullying Prevention

Grant Parish Schools is dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming place where every student feels respected and supported. Bullying of any kind goes against our values of kindness and respect. This topic helps students recognize what bullying looks like, know how to report it, and learn ways to stand up for themselves and others in a positive, caring way.

Child Assault Awareness & Prevention

Grant Parish Schools believes every student deserves to feel safe and protected. This topic helps students understand what personal safety means, how to recognize unsafe situations, and when to reach out for help. Students are encouraged to talk with a trusted adult, such as a teacher, counselor, or administrator, if they ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe.

Communicable Diseases

Staying healthy helps keep everyone at school safe and ready to learn. This topic teaches students how illnesses spread and how to protect themselves and others through simple habits like washing hands, covering coughs, and staying home when sick. Learning about communicable diseases helps students make smart choices that support their own health and the well-being of their classmates.

CPR & AED Training

Knowing how to respond in an emergency can help save a life. Students learn the basics of CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) as part of health and safety education. These skills prepare students to stay calm, take action, and support others if someone needs help.

Dating Violence

Everyone deserves to be treated with respect in a relationship. This topic helps students recognize the signs of unhealthy or abusive behavior and understand what safe, caring relationships look like. Students are encouraged to speak up if they or someone they know may be in an unsafe situation—help is always available, and no one has to handle it alone.

Diabetes Awareness

Diabetes happens when the body has trouble controlling blood sugar levels.
Some students live with diabetes every day, and knowing a little about it helps everyone be more understanding and supportive.
Learning the signs, like feeling extra thirsty, tired, or shaky, can also help you know when to get help from a teacher or nurse.

Eating Disorders

Maintaining a healthy relationship with food and body is an important part of your overall wellness. This topic helps students recognize signs of possible eating disorders, understand that help is available, and learn how to support friends who might be struggling. You don’t have to face it alone, and your school is here to help.

Firearm Accident Prevention & Safety

Learning about firearm safety helps keep everyone safe at school, at home, and in the community. Students are taught what to do if they ever come across a gun—Stop. Don’t touch. Leave the area. Tell an adult right away. Understanding these simple steps can prevent accidents and save lives.

First Aid

Knowing a few basic first aid skills can make a big difference when someone gets hurt or doesn’t feel well.
Whether it’s a small cut, a nosebleed, or a sprained ankle, learning what to do helps students stay calm and take safe, helpful action until an adult or nurse can take over.

Using technology responsibly helps keep you and others safe online. Thinking carefully before you post, share, or click helps protect your personal information and keeps your digital footprint positive.

Litter Prevention and Awareness

Keeping our schools and communities clean is an easy way to show respect for where we live and learn. Litter prevention helps students understand how throwing trash away properly, recycling, and caring for the environment make a big difference. When we all do our part, we help protect wildlife, keep Louisiana beautiful, and make our communities better for everyone.

Organ Donation

Safe Haven

The Louisiana Safe Haven Law was created to protect the lives of newborns and give parents in crisis a safe, legal option. This law allows a parent to leave a baby who is less than 60 days old at a Safe Haven location—such as a hospital, fire station, or law enforcement office—without fear of prosecution, as long as the baby shows no signs of abuse or neglect.

This topic helps students understand that Safe Haven laws exist to keep infants safe and to offer help to families who may be struggling.

Shaken Baby Syndrome

Shaken Baby Syndrome is a serious injury that happens when an infant or young child is shaken forcefully. Talking openly and kindly about mental health can save lives and reminds us that no one is ever alone.
