February 18th Special Board Meeting

 BOARD OF THE PARISH OF GRANT, STATE OF LOUISIANA, TAKEN

AT A SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2025

 

The Parish School Board of the Parish of Grant, State of Louisiana, met in its regular meeting place, the Grant Parish School Board Office, Colfax, Louisiana, in Special Session, Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 5:00 o’clock P.M.

There were present Mr. Lloyd Whitman, Mr. Mason Briggs, Mrs. Lisa Roberts, Mr. Mike Slaughter and Mrs. Deborah “Debbie” McFarland. Mrs. April Brouillette, Mrs. Karen Layton and Mr. William “Bill Riggs were absent.

Dr. Erin Stokes, Secretary-Treasurer was also present.

The Parish School Board of the Parish of Grant, State of Louisiana, was duly convened by Mr. Mason Briggs, President of the Grant Parish School Board, who then stated that the Grant Parish School Board was ready to transact any business which may come before the Board.

No one signed in to be recognized for a specific agenda item.

Overview of services offered by Trinity Community Health Center Staff.

Motion by Mr. Slaughter, seconded by Mrs. McFarland and unanimously approved to authorize Superintendent to accept the lowest quote to purchase 185 ton air-cool chiller for Grant Junior High School for $190,000.00, pending final report from insurance adjuster.

Motion by Mr. Whitman, seconded by Mr. Slaughter and unanimously approved to purchase up to twelve wall pack air conditioning units for Pollock Elementary, Montgomery High School, and Verda Elementary.

Motion by Mrs. Roberts, seconded by Mrs. McFarland and unanimously approved to: CDF (Career Development Fund): Spend down rollover funds. $60,000.00 for Equipment, Materials and Supplies for CTE Classes at Grant High, Georgetown High and Montgomery High.

The Superintendent discussed with the Board, Policy: DJEG:  Purchase Orders and Contracts.

The Superintendent discussed Act 370 from the 2023 Louisiana Legislative Session with the Board Members.

Mr. Slaughter discussed Little River with the Board Members.

The Superintendent updated the Board Members on Grant Parish School Board Bonds.

Motion by Mr. Whitman, seconded by Mrs. McFarland and unanimously approved adjourning the meeting.
